About the field guide

A useful companion to the game.

This wiki connects the things you need to the work, people and places that provide them.

The game

A Line That Holds is a western idle role-playing game about useful work, prepared journeys and restoring a railway between eight settlements. The current playtest is available in your browser: play A Line That Holds. This wiki is available independently of the game.

Based on the actual rules

Item values, recipes, drops, requirements, prices and chapter costs come from the current game content. The written guides explain how those systems fit together. Your equipment, mastery and active bonuses may change the values shown in play.

Town listings describe possible stock and its limits. They do not read your save or claim to show how many goods remain on your current shelves.

Story spoilers

Later story entries are excluded from search by default. Outcomes on Journal pages stay closed until you reveal them. Names of places and materials are visible so you can plan your journey. The spoiler setting is stored only in this browser, separately from the game.

Artwork and sources

Artwork comes from A Line That Holds. Some illustrations represent a family of items; use the item name, requirements and description to distinguish specific variants. The site uses locally hosted Bevan, Bitter and Source Sans 3 fonts under their included open-font licenses.
